Amlou is a rich stone-milled blend of roasted almonds, argan oil and wild honey. Our range consists of two delicious varieties:
Bold, Rich, Amorous.
This handcrafted delicacy offers a sumptuously thick texture with an intensely nutty flavour.
Elegant, Subtle, Rapturous.
This argan-rich delicacy offers a silky smooth texture with a light nutty flavour.
Our Amlou can be enjoyed spread on toast, drizzled on pancakes, stirred through porridge, combined with yoghurt, dipped with fruit or straight from the spoon. In Morocco, Amlou is typically eaten at breakfast time or served as a bonne bouche.
A RICH HERITAGE
Our Amlou features organic wild sweet almonds from the foothills of the Atlas mountains of Morocco. We lightly roast our almonds and combine them with deliciously nutty argan oil to enhance their flavour and ensure we craft a moist spread. We source organic wild honey foraged from African tree hives. Our honey completes the trio of potent ingredients with a distinctively rich and woody flavour.
Amlou is highly-prized within Moroccan culture. It is renowned as an aphrodisiac tonic and is often gifted to couples on their wedding day. Nomads have traditionally relied upon Amlou as a vital source of energy when traversing the Sahara desert.
Almonds are alkaline and purported to help to reduce inflammation in the body and balance its pH level. They are replete with Vitamin E, antioxidants, fibre and protein.
Honey is an alkaline food and rich in vitamins and minerals. The precious nectar is cold-pressed to retain high nutrient value. Our honey contains antioxidants and is free of saturated fats.
Argan oil is a nutty and nutrient-packed plant oil cold-pressed from the seeds of the Argania Spinosa tree. It is rich in essential fatty acids omega 6 and 9, which studies have shown can help to reduce cholesterol.
