The Artisan Olive Oil Company introduces Domaine Fendri's olive oils to the UK market

The Artisan Olive Oil Company is pleased to announce the introduction of Domaine Fendri’s organic extra virgin olive oil to the UK market.

Domaine Fendri’s organic olive grove is located in Maknassy in the region of Sidi Bou Zid, the birthplace of the Tunisian “revolution” and a particularly dry and sunny part of Tunisia. The roots of the estate date back to 1911. Slim Fendri, the current manager represents the third generation in a family which has always been passionate about the olive tree. He joined the family business in 1995. After meeting some of the most advanced producers in Italy, he decided to radically change his production methods by focusing on small quantities and continuously increasing the quality.

A series of major investments were carried out in the period leading to 2006, including an advanced irrigation system aimed at a higher stability in the production levels and the sustainability of the quality levels. A modern 2 phase extraction system was introduced to preserve the highest proportion of the natural components of the oil to give it a “fresh from the mill taste”. At this stage, Domaine Fendri started to be recognised on the international markets. Slim Fendri also initiated a close collaboration with agronomists to closely monitor his production and joined QvExtra, an international association of premium producers.

The modern approach is combined with a very natural and traditional way of harvesting the olives by hand. This allows to select the healthiest fruits and protect the trees, some of which are several hundreds of years old. The olives are milled shortly after the harvest, giving the chemlali (the local olive variety) unique aromas and flavours. Domaine Fendri currently stands as the most awarded Tunisian olive oil and is regarded as a role model for organic farming in Tunisia. Amongst others, it has won a gold medal at Biol 2016, the international competition for organic olive oils.

The Artisan Olive Oil Company introduces Finca la Torre Organic and Biodynamic olive oils to the UK market

The Artisan Olive Oil Company is pleased to announce the introduction of Finca La Torre’s olive oils to the UK market. Its Hojiblanca olive oil has won the 1st prize at the Mario Solinas international competition 3 years in a row (2014, 2015 and 216) in the intense green fruitiness category. It also displays a polyphenol level (which constitutes the healthiest compound within olive oil) in excess 750mg/l, which is one of the highest in the market.

About Torre La Finca
In the heart of Andalusia, Finca la Torre is located between two national parks, the Fuente de Piedra and the Natural Park of El Torcal de Antequera on the site of an ancient roman oil mill 2000 years old. The olive estate is completely surrounded by fields, pine forests and flanked by two large hills. With almost 380 hectares, it includes around 33,000 trees, from four varieties, Hojiblanca, Arbequina, Cornicabra and Picudo.

The organic and biodynamic farm has been fully modernized in 1998 and again in 2014 in order to achieve quality excellence. The mill being located within the estate allows to mill the oil to be extracted within two hours of harvesting, preserving maximum freshness. It is regarded as one of the most advanced quality promoters in the Spanish olive oil sector.

There is a clear desire to apply state of the art technological methods and the most recent findings in order to ensure that the green fine aromas and the “fresh from the mill” taste is offered to the consumer. Its oils have repeatedly won the most prestigious international awards.

The Artisan Olive Oil Company is pleased to announce the introduction of Paolo Bonomelli’s olive oils to the UK market. Paolo Bonomelli’s boutique olive farm is one of the most awarded olive producers in the world, having received amongst others the first prize at the Mario Solinas 2016 international olive oil competition.

About Paolo Bonomelli’s boutique olive farm
Located in Torri del Benaco, on the eastern shore of Lake Garda, it benefits from a unique microclimate which gives its oils their particular character. Paolo Bonomelli’s boutique olive farm produces around 120 hectoliters a year with around 4,500 trees. He grows mainly local varieties, namely Drizzàr (also named Casaliva), Trep and Fort.

When Paolo Bonomelli founded the olive farm in 1990, he built on the heritage of old local trees to develop his grove and focused his production process on the highest quality. The farm works with specialized professionals and is equipped with all the facilities and requirements necessary to ensure the complete monitoring of the production process “from the olive tree to bottle”. This approach together with an extreme attention to detail are the recipes for its success. It feels like a nursery for olive trees. Every tree has a tag with a number and color to identify it. The same care is taken during the harvesting and extraction process. It is possible to trace the full history of each bottle produced via the monitoring system, from the time of harvest (done by hand picking), to the name of the harvester and also the time of milling and filtering. The impressive list of awards from across the globe is a great testimony to Paolo Bonomelli’s passion for excellence.
