Three Gold Stars for Bonieri - Great Taste 2015

For the second year running, Bonieri has been awarded gold stars at the world’s largest blind-tasted food awards Great Taste 2015. This year three products were championed.

The triple layered Cremini praline, the hazelnut centred Delice and the 40% hazelnut Gianduja Spread stood out in their categories. All three will now carry the Great Taste logo as a sign of a great tasting product. This is the second Great Taste Award for the gianduja spread.

Recognised as a stamp of excellence among consumers and retailers alike, Great Taste values taste above all else, with branding and packaging ignored. All products are removed from their wrapper or jar before being tasted. The judges then savour, confer and re-taste to decide which products are worthy of a coveted gold star award.

Showcasing the finest gianduja products from Turin, Bonieri’s traditional recipe specialities include a range of dairy and gluten free gianduja pralines, a rich creamy hazelnut treat with a velvet smooth texture.

Judges comments included:
Delice: “Smooth praline, generously filled chocolates with a
good crisp hazelnut. Very enjoyable.”

Coffee Cremini: “…silky in the mouth and has good length of flavour.
We would enjoy these with an espresso.”

Gianduja Spread: “Powerful hazelnut aroma and a dark glossy look… Very tasty.”


The Great Taste Awards are judged by over 400 of the most demanding palates belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, members of the Women’s Institute, farmers and a host of food writers and journalists. Judges are presented with a sample of the product, with no wrappings, jars or marks. As such, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.

This year a massive 10,000 products entered into Great Taste. The panel of judges included Masterchef judge and restaurant critic Charles Campion, TV presenter and cook, Aggie Mackenzie, Great British Bake Off winner, Frances Quinn, Masterchef the Professionals finalist, Adam Handling, food buyers from Harrods, Selfridges, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer, and chefs including James Golding, Chef Director of The Pig hotel group.

What is Great Taste?

Great Taste is the largest and most trusted accreditation scheme for speciality and fine food & drink. Established in 1994, it encourages and mentors artisan food producers, offering a unique benchmarking and product evaluation service leading to an independent accreditation that enables small food and drink businesses to compete against supermarket premium own label brands.

Since 1994 over 90,000 products have been evaluated. This year 10,000 products were blind-tasted by panels of specialists: top chefs, cookery writers, food critics, restaurateurs and fine food retailers.

What are Great Taste judges looking for?
They’re looking for great texture and appearance. They judge the quality of ingredients and how well the maker has put the food or drink together. But above all, they are looking for truly great taste.

New Cube Packaging for Bonieri

Bonieri has launched a new range of cube packaging. The transparent cubes come in three sizes. The larger 300g cube launches in Harrods this month.

The cube packaging makes stacking on shelves easier as the cubes can be stacked two or three high. The transparent cubes also ensure that the customer can see exactly what is ‘inside the box’ before purchasing. All cubes comes with our attractive double satin coloured ribbons.

The larger 300g cube contains our top selling CriCri, a traditional Piedmont sweet with a whole hazelnut covered in rich dark chocolate and coated in sugar balls. Two smaller cubes contain gianduja pralines, the creamy Delice in 170g and our darker cocoa gianduiotti in 120g.

Bonieri showcases the finest gianduja products from Turin, Bonieri’s traditional recipe specialities and stylish ‘Bella’ selection boxes combine exquisite taste with Italian passion and style.

Bonieri has been shortlisted in the Business Matters Annual Awards 2015 in the category of Start-Up Business.

The Business Matters Awards provides a platform to recognise, reward and celebrate successful businesses and professional individuals.

Bonieri launched in October 2013, and within six months was adorning the shelves of Harrods. Showcasing the finest gianduja products from Turin, Bonieri’s traditional recipe specialities and stylish ‘Bella’ selection boxes combine exquisite taste with Italian passion and style. Its products have caught the eye of newspapers, magazine and chocolate lovers around the country. Bonieri has secured a high level of successful coverage and reviews in both the printed and online media channels.

In August 2014, Bonieri was awarded gold stars for two of its products at the Great Taste Awards. In May 2015 Bonieri launched into Selfridges, London and other major retail launched are planned for later this year.

The Start-Up Business category identifies businesses that have had successes they want to share in terms of niche filling, turnover, job creation or rapid expansion. Founder Amber Rust said:
