Start spreading the news...Fifth Dimension Chocolates’“New York” Apple and Calvados Caramel filled chocolate has received a prestigious Gold Award at the International Chocolate Awards’ British National Competition. The Big Apple inspired creation is one of the most challenging filled chocolates produced by Fifth Dimension Chocolates’ chief chocolatiers Russell and Albert, and their attempts to recreate a delicious New York Apple pie didn’t disappoint asitprovided a divine sensory experience for the judging panel. In fact the “New York” handcrafted chocolate set itself so far away from any other caramel filled chocolate in the competition that it was the only one tobe awarded Gold in the two ‘ Chocolate Enrobed Caramels’ categories. Speaking about the significant winat the International Chocolate Awards - which recognises excellence in fine chocolate from around the world – Fifth Dimension Chocolates’ co-founders Russell and Albert said: "Our aim is always to push the boundaries on the flavours of our chocolates, based onour travel and culinary experience. With the New York chocolate we set outtorecreate the flavour of a classic apple pie drizzled with a silky-smooth salted caramel sauce, which we tasted in New York once on a cold winter’ s day.”Also tantalising the judge’s taste buds was Fifth Dimension Chocolates’“Hong Kong” Soy Caramel. With inspiration taken from the city of skyscrapers and its mystical traditions this malty-sweet soy caramel is sumptuously rich yet alluringly smooth. Paying homage to the city that loves to eat, the mouth-watering filled milk chocolate gained them a Bronze award in the same group. Fifth Dimension Chocolates continued to impress in the ‘ Ganaches or truffles using mixed dark / milk / white for coating and fillings’ category where they took home their third accolade, a second Bronze award for their “Kagoshima” Yuzu and Pink Peppercorn chocolate, inspired by the Japanese island of Kyushu. Once bitten, this attention-grabbing yellow speckled dome of pure pleasure explodes a mix of citrusy-sour yuzu suffused with the warmth of pink peppercorn. The International Chocolate Awards’ British National Competition was judged atYork’s Grand Hotel in April byan expert panel that included pastry chefs, restaurateurs, journalists and other specialists from the York area, as well asmembers of the International Grand Jury panel. All winners in the British National Competition can now take part in the World Final, tobe held in London this October. MULTI AWARD-WINNING FIFTH DIMENSION CHOCOLATES TO LAUNCH THREE NEW PRODUCTS AND WHOLE NEW LOOK AT SPECIALITY & FINE FOOD FAIR 2016
View the whole press release
Fifth Dimension Chocolates (5DChocolates) will showcase three brand new exciting delights at the Speciality & Fine Food Fair 2016 (SFFF) on Sunday 4th to Tuesday 6th September, promising the ultimate sensory experience in fine chocolate.
Always inspired by their culinary experiences from around the globe, 5DChocolates’ co-founders Russell and Albert have now added two more captivating handmade filled chocolates to their collection, “Sydney” Mint and Miso and “Cape Town” Curry and Raisin; as well as introducing a whole new product line with their luxurious Mango and Passion Fruit Caramel Sauce.
The chocolatiers will officially launch the new sumptuous delectables - and offer visitors the chance to taste all of their award-winning products - at stand 2930 in the Speciality Chocolate Fair, which SFFF is incorporating for the second year.
5DChocolates’ new Mango and Passion Fruit Caramel Sauce takes inspiration from their supremely popular “Bangkok” caramel filled chocolate, a Bronze award winner at the 2015 International Chocolate Awards world final. This devilishly decadent sauce can be drizzled on ice-cream, crepes, and even porridge! Already a huge talking point, their first caramel sauce recently won one star at the 2016 Great Taste Awards, which is widely acknowledged as the most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers.
Show-goers sampling 5DChocolates’ new filled chocolates “Sydney” and “Cape Town” at SFFF this September will be taken on a handcrafted journey of flavour.
With multicultural Sydney, home to such a rich melting pot of cuisines full of flavours from the West to the Pacific Rim, 5DChocolates’ is proud to have captured the city’s diversity with a heady mix of mint and miso.
Speaking about the green speckled dark chocolate creation, shaped like the Sydney Opera House, co-founder Albert Chau said: “For us the best bit about Sydney is the ‘world on a plate’ fusion cuisine combining typical flavours from very different parts of the world to create something new and exciting. We were surprised to see miso used in cooking with lamb here once, and since mint is a well-known pairing with lamb we thought we’d give this diverse combination a try - and we’re delighted with the result!”
Fellow harbour city Cape Town also brims with cosmopolitan flavours, and it was the South African dish Bobotie with roots in Europe and South East Asia that gave life to this new 5DChocolates’ treat - a tangy, sweet fusion of chocolate, curry and raisins. Sultry and smooth yet spicy, it is sure to pique even the most daring of palates.
Those attending SFFF will also get an exclusive first look at 5DChocolates’ new logo and shiny new packaging. Proud to be a British company and equally passionate about travel and innovation, the Small Business Saturday Champion has created a modern logo with colours based on the Union Jack and contemporary branding design that reflects the value of global unity. The new look also highlights their commitment to tantalising all five senses, with the three blue parts of the “5D” logo representing the look, aroma and taste of chocolate, the red curve alluding to the mouth-feel and finally the red dot reflecting the memory and experience evoked during fine flavour chocolate tasting.
5DChocolates’ now hold an accolade for at least one item in each of their five product lines - filled chocolates, chocwich, salmóran, tablettes and brand new caramel sauce - all of which will be exhibited at SFFF. Their filled chocolate range includes the piquant “Hanoi” Ginger Caramel and mouth-wateringly vibrant “Orleans” Raspberry Chambord filled chocolates that both recently won two stars at Great Taste Awards 2016; plus their divine “New York” Apple and Calvados filled chocolate that was crowned a Gold winner in the British National Competition at International Chocolate Awards 2016.
