Co-Founder Robert was a macro trader at global investment bank Morgan Stanley and Brevan Howard for many years, working in London, New York and Geneva. Here the Oxford University graduate learnt how to spot global changes in consumer attitudes and emerging trends. Having always been fascinated by the food industry, it was clear to him that huge trends were emerging - food was shifting online fast. Determined not to let an opportunity be missed, Robert embarked on his biggest trade - leaving his finance job to start Mindful Chef. Whilst plans were coming together, Robert worked on a fishing boat operating lobster pots, gill nets and an inshore trawl off Devon's south coast. It was this unique experience that opened his eyes to the demand for amazing fresh produce, sold direct to the consumer rather than through the supermarket network. These days Mindful Chef works directly with small West Country farms and fishing boats shipping their produce from farm-to-fork across the UK.
