The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a specialized joint agency of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the United Nations (UN), dedicated to supporting the internationalization of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs). ITC’s mission is to drive inclusive and sustainable economic development through trade, particularly in developing and transition economies.
By providing trade-related technical assistance, ITC helps MSMEs build their trade capacities, improve business environments, and connect local enterprises to global markets. The organization works closely with governments, business support organizations, and private sector entities to enhance trade competitiveness, foster entrepreneurship, and create job opportunities.
A key focus of ITC is promoting inclusive trade, with targeted programs such as the UK Trade Partnership Programme, that empower women, youth, and marginalized communities. ITC also aligns its efforts with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially those related to poverty reduction, gender equality, and decent work.
Through its wide range of programs, operating in over 100 countries, ITC addresses critical areas such as market access, value chain development, export strategy, and digital trade.
ITC plays a crucial role in helping MSMEs from developing regions successfully navigate the complexities of global trade, contributing to broader efforts to build a more equitable and prosperous world.
