Based on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland, Stag Bakeries is a family-run bakery with a heritage dating back to 1885. Traditional recipes and time-honoured methods are still at the heart of each product their team of skilled craft bakers make. Stag specialises in producing premium bakery snack products such as savoury biscuits, puff-pastry cheese straws, traditional Scottish shortbread and oatcakes, and speciality fruit cakes. Each of these products are made using the finest ingredients and nothing is rushed in the baking process. The result is an award-winning range of products trusted on quality, authenticity, and provenance.
Stag’s signature product is the Stornoway Water Biscuit, a savoury cracker that is an accomplished accompaniment for all varieties of cheese and other toppings. The Water Biscuit is made in two sizes and a variety of flavours, providing an array of snacking options. The Seaweed Water Biscuits were named Best Scottish Speciality Product in 2013 by the Guild of Fine Food and remain popular with customers today. Stag Bakeries products are currently stocked in over 1,000 fine food retailers in the United Kingdom, and the company also exports with ten years of experience in supplying their products internationally.
Stag also has private label manufacturing capabilities and has been working with clients on a private label basis for over a decade. The bakery has a dedicated NPD team with many years of experience who are focused exclusively on the creation of innovative new bakery products.
